Common Dishwasher Problems We Fix
Most microwave failures come down to a handful of components, and most of them are repairable. Here’s what we work on regularly across Northern Virginia homes:
Microwave not heating
The most common call we get is a unit that runs (light on, turntable spinning) but produces no heat. This is almost always a failed magnetron, a blown high-voltage diode, or a failed capacitor. All three are repairable, and we’ll tell you honestly whether the repair makes sense for your unit.
Sparking or arcing inside the cavity
Stop using the unit immediately. Sparking usually means the waveguide cover is damaged or food debris is arcing inside. It is a fire hazard and needs to be addressed before the microwave is used again.
Turntable not rotating
Usually a failed turntable motor or a broken drive coupler. Both are inexpensive parts we carry and replace in a single visit.
Display blank or showing error codes
Points to a blown door interlock switch or a failed control board. On Samsung, LG, and other digital-display models, error codes identify the specific failure. We read them and diagnose the actual problem.
Door won’t latch
A door that won’t close properly prevents the microwave from starting. Usually a failed latch assembly or a worn door interlock switch.
Buttons or touchpad not responding
Most often a failed touchpad membrane. In some cases the control board is the issue. We diagnose before recommending a repair.
Unusual noises
A loud hum, grinding, or rattling during operation usually points to a failing magnetron, a worn turntable motor, or interference with the turntable mechanism.

Over-the-range microwaves are mounted above the stove and require disassembly to access internal components. We handle this as part of every service call.
