Gas Cooktop Repair

The most common gas cooktop failures and what they mean

Gas cooktops most commonly fail at the igniter. You will hear the spark clicking but the burner will not light, or the clicking continues after the flame is already on.

That second problem, continuous sparking after ignition, points to a failed ignition module. The module is supposed to cut the spark signal once it detects a flame; when it fails, the spark runs on a loop. It is a specific part, a specific replacement, and something we see regularly on GE, Whirlpool, and Jenn-Air gas cooktops across Northern Virginia.

Electric Cooktop Repair

Heating element and control switch failures

Electric cooktops tend to fail at the heating element or the control switch. A burner that heats unevenly or stops producing heat on one side usually has a partially burned-out element, where one section fails while the rest continues working. Control switch failures are less obvious; the burner may respond to the knob inconsistently or not hold a set temperature.

Both are straightforward repairs with the right parts on hand.

Induction Cooktop Repair

Control board and power module diagnostics

Induction cooktops are the most technically involved. The surface itself does not heat; it generates a magnetic field that heats the cookware directly. When an induction cooktop stops working, the fault is usually in the control board or the power module, and diagnosing it requires more than a visual inspection.

Error codes on the display are a starting point, but not the full story. We handle induction cooktop repair across Northern Virginia for LG, Samsung, Electrolux, and KitchenAid models.
